It’s true that our first foray into poster printing was the purchase of a large format printer to print posters for nightclubs, hotels, venues and pretty much business connected with the hospitality industry. Since that time we’ve become experts in all manner of large format digital printing. From indoor posters, to roller banners, canvas prints, waterproof posters and forecourt overbags, we are fortunate to have gained an unmatched understanding of what works and what doesn’t work for businesses like yours.
Today we’re going back to basics on poster printing. As a company we appreciate that many of our customers don’t order print regularly. Setting up your posters for printing
You want high quality printing and so do we! To get the best from your artwork, we suggest you create your artwork with the following elements. This will ensure your poster printing is printed and finished to the absolute highest standard possible.
What resolution should my poster be?
When setting up your poster artwork for print, please set the resolution to 300dpi. This will ensure high quality “hd” printing.
The exception to this rule is 100-150dpi resolution for billboard posters due to the distance they are to be viewed at.
How much bleed do I need to add to a poster design?
When designing a poster for print, please add 3mm bleed to each side of the design.
This can be automatically added within Indesign & Illustrator. However in other programmes you may need to manually add this. To do so add 6mm to the overall width and height of the design.
We’ll continue adding to this list of questions as they are posed by you our customer.
